Join renowned author and Theatre of the Oppressed practitioner, Geo Britto, for a three-day Deep Dive that explores how Theatre of the Oppressed can be used to counter far-right narratives. Britto worked closely with Augusto Boal, the founder of Theatre of the Oppressed, which is a socially engaged theatre approach that seeks to raise consciousness and develop community-based solutions to local and global justice issues. In the workshop, selected plays of Bertold Brecht will provide a creative framework for how we can effectively use TO methodologies to address fascism. Together, we will investigate how these tools can be used to analyse, reflect on, and resist oppression in our current context.
Geo Britto is a founder and member of the Coordination of the Peoples Theater School (ETP), created in 2017. He has been working with Theatre of the Oppressed for 35 years, 20 of which with Augusto Boal. He has conducted workshops and performances around the world. He holds a bachelor's degree in Social and Political Sciences, a master's degree in Arts, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Theater. He wrote the award winning book Augusto Boal and the Making of the Theater of the Oppressed.
Whether you’re a theater-maker, activist, or simply curious, this event invites you to engage critically and creatively with the issues of our time.
