MTU Arts Office in association with SAMPLE STUDIOS is delighted to announce the next series of Creative Breaks Lunchtime Art Workshops at NMCI.
Join artist Elize de Beer for a practical introduction to a range of creative bookbinding techniques, including accordion books, zines, pop-up cards, map fold booklets, pamphlet binding, and Japanese stab binding.

Tailored to the workplace, the Creative Breaks Lunchtime Workshops run one day per week for 6 weeks, and offer an introduction to an artform, skill, or creative technique. Suitable for anyone with an interest, from complete beginner up, these are a great opportunity to try something new or develop further, in an informal session with colleagues.

Discover the art of bookbinding in our engaging six-week workshop series, perfect for beginners and those looking to explore new creative skills.
Each week, you'll dive into a different technique, starting with Week 1’s Accordion Book, where you’ll learn to transform a single sheet of paper into a beautifully folded book.
In Week 2, explore Zine Making, a fun way to create mini-magazines or personal art books.
Week 3 introduces Japanese Stab Binding, a traditional method that results in elegant, handcrafted books.
Week 4 is all about Pop-up Cards, where you’ll create interactive designs that pop off the page.
Week 5 covers Pamphlet Binding, a simple yet versatile technique for making small booklets.
Finally, in Week 6, you’ll master Map Fold Booklets, showcasing innovative folding techniques for unique, compact creations.
No prior experience needed—just bring your curiosity and creativity!
