Munster Technological University is delighted to announce that we will be hosting the 28th International Passwords Conference (PasswordsCon) on the 8th-9th of December 2026.
PasswordsCon is the world's first conference dedicated to passwords, PINs, and digital authentication. Founded in 2010 by Per Thorsheim at the University of Bergen, Norway, the conference has since traveled to cities across Europe and the United States.
Bringing together researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts, PasswordsCon explores the latest in authentication security, usability, and policy.
We are especially excited to share that PasswordsCon will be co-located with the 5th Cyber Research Conference Ireland (CRCI) on the 10th of December 2026, bringing together leading researchers, industry experts, and innovators from across the cybersecurity community.

An Evening at Cork City Gaol 7th December
Cork is a city with a very rich historical and archaeological heritage, much of it still in evidence today. Part of this heritage, Cork City Gaol, is a magnificent castle-like building which once housed 19th century prisoners. With the heritage centre closed to the public, you will have the unique opportunity to explore the Gaol after hours and hear the stories of those who once lived within its walls.
An engaging and knowledgeable guide will bring the history of the Gaol to life during this one-hour guided tour.

An Evening at Jameson Distillery Midleton 8th December
Experience Tour: this is a fully guided tour through the Old Midleton Distillery, covering Jameson’s history, heritage and whiskey making process. The experience includes a comparative tasting of three of their whiskeys and a choice of Jameson Original or their signature cocktail: Jameson, Ginger Ale and Lime. This tour runs for approximately 75 minutes, starting at 6:30pm with site closure at 20:00pm. No additional cost.

An Evening at The Pavillion Bar 9th December
Opening during the height of the Irish War of Independence, it stood as a beacon of hope for the people of Cork during a turbulent period in the city’s history. Following the devastating Burning of Cork in December 1920, The Pavilion became part of a new era of optimism and renewal for the city.
Today, it has been lovingly restored as a cocktail bar and multifunctional arts space, blending its rich heritage with a vibrant contemporary atmosphere. Its stunning vaulted ceiling reflects the building’s original cinematic character, while the iconic projection screen remains at the heart of the venue.
Join us for an evening at The Pav featuring lightning talks on passwords, plenty of conversation and, of course, a few pints.
